On January 28, we interviewed Camino Green, an expert in holistic skin care, to reveal some tips for glowing skin.
Externally, there are two basic steps: cleansing and nourishing. For this it is important to choose a gentle cleanser, which does not deprive our skin of its essential oils, such as Rainforest. And then nourish and moisturize our skin with a cream more unctuous, such as Moonlight, or lighter, such as Sunshine, depending on the needs of our skin.
Internal care for radiant skin
Camino explains that many factors influence the care of our skin, which can be summarized as metabolism, the environment and our emotional health.
For the care of the metabolism, food plays a very important role because it provides the essential nutrients for the body to function well and the skin to be healthy.
Camino shares with us her four fundamental food groups
- Fruits and vegetables for their amount of minerals and vitamins.
- Proteins. Collagen and elastin are very important proteins to have glowy and elastic skin.
- Healthy fats because our skin is protected by the hydrolipidic mantle, which we generate through the sebaceous and sweat glands. A diet based on fatty acids protects our skin and balances the dermobiota.
- Antioxidants. One of the reasons why we age, lose radiance or have dull skin is because of free radicals. Berries, for example, are rich in antioxidants and help us fight free radicals.
Supplements for healthy skin
Supplements can be very interesting, according to Camino, when we are not providing the necessary nutrients to our body or we have skin conditions, such as acne, rosacea, psoriasis... In those cases, Camino recommends going to a qualified specialist, to give you a personalized guideline, going to the real cause of the skin. According to her, supplements should be taken until the body reaches its balance, not forever.
Preventively, when we do not reach the basic nutritional requirements, Camino says that supplements can help us to have radiance in the skin.
For example, before summer months we can take beta-carotene to prepare our skin for the sun. In winter, Camino recommends hyaluronic acid because with the cold our skin has a drier tendency and it is a precursor for our body to produce collagen and elastin. Vitamin C would also be interesting to boost our immune system.
